Editorial standards
How Noor builds its resources.
Noor exists to bring clarity to mental health concepts. To do that responsibly, every resource follows a consistent research and editorial process.
Research first
Every article begins with peer-reviewed research from psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, and behavioural science. The aim is to explain what current evidence suggests about an experience, rather than relying on opinion or popular trends.
When strong evidence exists, Noor reflects that consensus. When research findings are mixed or still evolving, that uncertainty is acknowledged openly.
Plain-language translation
Much of the most useful mental health research is written in highly technical language. Noor translates that research into clear, accessible explanations without removing the underlying ideas that make the research meaningful.
The goal is not to simplify the science away, but to make it easier for readers to understand what is happening in their minds, bodies, and environments.
What Noor does not publish
Noor does not publish content based on pop psychology frameworks that lack scientific support. Mental health information is already confusing enough without adding ideas that are not grounded in credible research.
The site also avoids sensationalism, quick-fix advice, and content designed primarily for engagement rather than understanding.
Not a substitute for professional care
Noor does not diagnose mental health conditions and does not offer medical advice. The resources are designed to support understanding, not replace professional care.
If a reader is experiencing distress that interferes with daily life, seeking help from a qualified mental health professional may be an important next step.
Transparency
Whenever possible, Noor includes references to the research that informs each article. These references are provided so readers can explore the original work if they wish.
Mental health research continues to evolve. As new evidence emerges, Noor's resources are updated to reflect the current understanding.
Most articles are developed through an assisted editorial workflow. AI tools are used to review academic literature and generate early drafts. The same tools, under human guidance and prompting, perform a verification pass, flagging and correcting unsupported claims and inconsistencies.
Human editorial oversight follows this process. Sections of each article are periodically checked against the underlying research to ensure that explanations accurately reflect the evidence.
Noor is working to expand this process by collaborating with registered psychologists who will review resources as the library grows.
