Why Noor exists

Noor began as a personal attempt to understand difficult mental health experiences. While searching for answers, it became clear how much available information was either highly technical, oversimplified, or shaped by pop psychology.

Over time, that personal search grew into something more structured. Research was gathered, translated into clearer language, and organised so that other people navigating similar questions could find it more easily.

Today Noor exists as a repository of research-grounded explanations designed to help people make sense of what they are experiencing, without judgement and without unnecessary complexity.

How the resources are built

Every resource begins with peer-reviewed research from psychology, neuroscience, and behavioural science. The goal is not to simplify the science away, but to translate it into language that is easier to follow and apply in real life.

Each article focuses on three things:

  • what the experience is and how it typically develops
  • common misunderstandings that can make it harder to navigate
  • what tends to help, based on current research

What Noor does not do

Noor does not diagnose mental health conditions and does not offer medical advice. The resources are designed to support understanding, not replace professional care.

The site also avoids unsupported pop psychology frameworks. Mental health is already complicated enough; adding unsupported ideas often makes it harder to find clarity.

Who Noor is for

Noor is designed for people trying to understand their own mental health experiences, people supporting someone who may be struggling, and professionals responsible for the wellbeing of others.
